PetroUltra™ dramatically expands the
health benefits of pterostilbene by adding other
phytochemicals that science has identified as having a
synergistic relationship with each other, especially
resveratrol. In addition, scientists have found that the
antioxidant properties of
pterostilbene and resveratrol are enhanced by quercetin.
Quercetin and pterostilbene protected erythrocyte
membranes against lipid peroxidation 30% greater than
resveratrol alone, while resveratrol when combined with
quercetin had much greater capacity to inhibit oxidative
injury of membrane lipids.
When combined together quercetin, trans resveratrol and
pterostilbene efficiently protect human erythrocytes
against oxidative injury. Moreover, the synergistic and
additive effect of combination of these phytochemicals
may contribute to the chemopreventive potential of
fruits and vegetable diets containing in these compounds1*. |

Polydatin, another phytochemical that
comes from the same root as resveratrol, Polygonum
cuspidatum, dramatically enhance the bioavailability of
resveratrol. Polydatin is a rare analog of resveratrol
which also increases the half life of resveratrol in the
blood and tissues and improves the efficacy of the
pterostilbene in PteroUltra™. This is a highly
significant factor because if resveratrol stays in the
blood longer; it provides its health giving attributes
for longer periods of time in the body. Polydatin has
also been shown to be a superior antioxidant to

Both
resveratrol and pterostilbene have remarkable
effects on learning and memory. Pterostilbene was
the most efficacious of a group of resveratrol-like
compounds at preventing loss of the neurotransmitter
dopamine from memory centers in aged rats2*.
Supplementation with pterostilbene reversed
cognitive behavioral deficits. This study showed
working memory function was correlated with levels
of pterostilbene in the hippocampus, a key brain
location where memory is processed.
